State Awards Program Open
K-ACTE is now ready to accept award nominations for the 2014 State Awards Program! Nominations are due March 31, 2014.
New Award Categories and New Applications for 2014!
The K-ACTE Awards Program seeks to promote excellence in career and technical education by recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field, programs that exemplify the highest standards and organizations that have conducted activities to promote and expand career and technical education. The State Awards Program is modeled off the ACTE Program. State winners will be eligible to proceed to the regional and/or national competitions in 2015 with the exception of Kansas only awards: Young Teacher of the Year, Award of Merit, and Policymaker of the Year.
Starting this year, all nominations for awards that go on to regional and national competitions must be submitted through the ACTE Awards Portal: https://acte.nonprofitcms.org/awards
. This will make it much easier to send the awards on to regional and national competition with just the click of a button from the awards administrator. Kansas only awards have a separate form in the awards booklet and nominations should be submitted electronically to the K-ACTE office.
All awards are administered by the K-ACTE Awards Committee. Winners will be honored during the awards session at the K-ACTE Annual Summer Conference, July 28-30, 2014.
Please read the awards booklet carefully for all the new changes regarding categories and applications!

K-ACTE Receives QAS Award from ACTE
K-ACTE has once again been awarded the Quality Association Award from the national Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE). K-ACTE has won this award each year since 2004.
The award will be presented to K-ACTE Leadership at the ACTE Annual Convention now called CareerTech VISION on Saturday, December 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The purpose of the Quality Association Standards (QAS) is to provide benchmarks for state associations to determine levels of performance and satisfactory service to their members and prospective members. QAS should be useful to states in evaluating their basic organization and whether their leadership is providing minimum, average or superior programs for the membership.
This award also signifies a high level of service that the state association delivers to its members as well as the way in which the President and Board advocates for career and technical education in Kansas. This award shows that the association continues to strive for excellence and provides the best leadership for the state association and its members.
ACTE hopes that the QAS will prompt states to challenge themselves to improve and maintain the very best possible organization and leadership for their members within the association’s means. ACTE is committed to assisting state leadership in reaching Association goals.
