Gayla Randel Receives Region V Award


Gayla Randel, Education Program Consultant - FACS with the Kansas State Department of Education, was named the 2013 winner of the ACTE Region V Career and Technical Educator of the Year Award.  Region V includes Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) members from the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Trust Territories, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Recipients of this award are recognized for making significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers.  The awards were given out during the ACTE Region V Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah April 11-13, 2013.

Randel was the 2012 state winner of the Outstanding Career and Technical Educator award from the Kansas Association for Career and Technical Education (K-ACTE). As a state winner, she was nominated for the ACTE Region V award.  Now, as the Region V winner, Randel will compete for the ACTE National Career and Technical Educator Award at the 2013 CareerTech VISION ACTE Annual Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada December 4-7, 2013.
